Overview:

With collapsing theatrical markets and the rise of the streamers, it is now more important than ever for producers to understand their financing options – what has changed, and what stays the same. This Skills Lab will explore the basis of the finance plan, how to structure distribution deals to best serve all stakeholders, identify other types of financing, using off-screen income, and finding that always elusive final 10%.

Lab Presenter: Andrena Finlay and Richard Harris

Richard Harris is a film executive and producer with more than twenty-five years’ industry experience. He is currently an industry consultant with 113 Partners, advising screen companies on business development, growth and strategy. He has held executive positions at Screen Australia, the South Australian Film Corporation, where he was Chief Executive for eight years, and the Australian Directors Guild where he was Executive Director. Richard has lectured in media policy at Sydney University and is the author of the 2007 Platform Paper Film in the Age of Distribution.
